USB LITE: Self-Contained Temperature Data Logger for Shipping
and Single/Disposable Use Applications
This device is small and light enough to be included in shipping packages to
determine if perishables have sustained out of range temperatures and accurate
enough to perform scientific analysis. For applications requiring more
detailed temperature, dewpoint, and humidity, see our
USB-1 or
USB-2. For mission
critical live monitoring via the Internet or your LAN see our
TempTrax/TempElert product.

The USB-LITE temperature datalogger redefines the concept of a small,
low-cost temperature data logger. Weighing in at just 0.3 oz (8.5 grams) and
measuring 2.67" long x 0.7" wide x 0.375" thick (68 x 18 x 9.4mm)
the USB-LITE may be small, but it delivers the essential features found on
many larger, more expensive data loggers. The USB-LITE measures ambient
temperatures from +14 to +122°F (-10ºC to +50ºC) at a fixed sample rate of
once every thirty minutes and can store over 4,000 readings, giving it over
a month of continuous data logging capability.

Setup and download of the data logger is simple: plug directly into an
available USB port and open the Windows software which is supplied with the
data logger. From here users can assign the logger name, set high and low
alarm levels, and determine the logging start time. At any time during the
logging period an integral push button will prompt a bi-color LED to
indicate the alarm status. If the device has experienced temperatures that
are out of the alarm range, the LED will glow RED rather than GREEN
indicating an over/under temperature condition has occurred.
This LED alarm feature enables non-technical personnel to tell "at a
glance" if a perishables package has been compromised. Then later, you can
download the data and provide proof for insurance purposes.
Once the monitoring is completed, data is downloaded as a text file; this
can be graphed within the supplied software or exported to a spreadsheet for
further analysis. A coin cell is supplied with the USB-LITE and will provide
a battery life of over one month’s continuous use. The coin cell can be
replaced for re-use.
The USB-LITE’s low cost makes it perfect for applications such as
monitoring the temperature of goods during shipping or where a number of low-cost data
loggers may be required for a study. Plus the software allows for data export to comma-delimited data files (for
Excel or databases).

Description:
This device allows you to monitor temperature fluctuations anywhere with
a minimum of fuss. It's a "set and forget" device. When you are ready to get
the temperature data it has recorded, simply plug it into the USB port of
any PC or laptop. The device is small and lightweight enough to place almost
anywhere, and can be included in perishable packaging as proof that the
perishables have never exceeded required temperature ranges.
USB-LITE features a bi-color LED to indicate the status of the data logger.
To save power, the status indication only operates when the push button is
pressed for a short while.

Using the Windows compatible software supplied, the
USB-LITE can be
configured to
measure temperatures from +14 to +122°F (-10ºC to +50ºC).
The USB-LITE has user programmable high and low temperature alarms, which
are shown locally by a flashing green/red LED. All readings are
stored in
non-volatile memory ensuring important data is never lost.
Simply plug the USB-LITE into a USB1.1 or USB2.0 socket on a PC for instant download and
graphing of logged data. Once the data has been downloaded, the logger can
be
instantly reconfigured to begin the next application.
The data is saved in comma delimited format with date/time stamps for
easy import into other spreadsheet, database, and graphing applications.
